This Wicked Hand Built Mini Chevy Nova Looks Like So Much Fun

- in Cars

This Miniature ’70 Chevy Nova truly is one of the coolest and most unique builds we have seen in a while! Riding on a handmade tube chassis with fiberglass body and doors looks way different than your regular Chevy.

Proportionally it is good looking, the Yenko stripes are perfect, and the little steel wheels are also good. Every single body panel was made by hand. That’s right. These are not standard Nova body panels. They were made out of plywood and foam. Optic armor windows, brand new Toyo proxes tires. Every styling aspect perfectly captures the original Nova.

Hell, even the performance is nothing to laugh at because it would likely pull on some “tuned” cars. This one of a kind piece is powered by a 185 hp Kawasaki Ninja fuel injected 2001 zx12r engine. Cars weight around 1200lbs, that will give it a power-to-weight ratio of 0.15 / 1 pounds, which is quite respectable. The amalgamation of different parts doesn’t end there, though.

From that Kawasaki, block power is sent through a Toyota driveshaft out to an eight-bolt Toyota differential. All the power is moderated through a sequential 6-speed manual that is also taken from a bike. By the time the power hits the 26×14 tires, it is still moving with enough force to lay down a thick line of rubber and cloud the air – wicked!

This miniature Nova was built by Darrell Hurt from Camdenton, Missouri, and guess what? It’s a street legal.
“It’s all legal,” he said. “I live in a small town and one day I saw this guy driving a truck frame with a seat on it to a car show, and he had a license plate on the frame. So I figured if he could get his frame registered I could get my Nova registered. I had it inspected and they asked for VINs and I had the one from the motorcycle engine. It’s registered as a specialty vehicle here, and I got it all done for about $200 for the title and registration.”

To help finance the next build, the mini-Nova was sold to a guy who bought the car from Darrell after he listed it on Craigslist. But he’s already started on the next one, and he’s going to try do it better.
